The outlet shape is US type, so there are no issues for use in Japan. The product is compatible with 100V, so it can be used without a transformer. I'm not sure about the effectiveness since I just started using it, but the flash light is definitely working well. I think it's effective because increasing the power also causes pain. The instruction manual is only in English, but since it's just about the power switch and power adjustment, there shouldn't be any confusion.

Item arrived packaged well and everything works as should do.! Lights for power selection (1-5) all work as shown on their website. My wife has been using a well known branded one for more than 4 yrs now and only needs to use once every 14-21 days. She's tested today and she confirmed it works as the same as her well known branded one! We bought this as she feels she only needs a touch up now on her skin in her routine of 14-21 days. It has 5 level modes and pictures show we had on level 5 and on level 3. You can feel the strength of the power on the removal tool on 3 and then on 5. So power levels work as stated 👍 There is also a safety glass on this.!! Important that there is a safety glass as others my wife looked athad no safety protection glass inserted.!! Even though early days, as a purchase, my wife feels that this product delivers what it says.! !
There was no box, the packaging was well done. Everything is perfect, I will try it again and comment.
It arrived on time, I have tried it, it is quite powerful, you have to handle it within power limits, if used on the face, it is suggested to use glasses, at level 3 it burned my hair that the Philips couldn't, I recommend not using it above level 6.
